Storybook Station This treasure trove for pre-schoolers and early readers houses dozens (and dozens) of customized stories for reading-aloud and printing out. Answer a few questions ("My first name is ..." "I am a ..." "Two of my neighborhood friends are ...") and you'll be treated to an illustrated story, personalized just for you. Topics include Holidays ("Hanukkah Latkes, Yum"), Adventure ("Letter to my Alien Parents"), Birthdays ("A Birthday Picnic with Friends"), My World ("Back to School") and Baby ("My Baby's First Birthday.")
Vocabulary Cab Improve your vocabulary by learning the definitions and Greek and Latin roots of common.
Wacky Web Tales Remember these? To complete each Wacky Web Tale, fill in the blanks as requested (a noun, an adjective, a boy's name, a verb ending in -ing.) In addition to tales created by the publisher Houghton Mifflin, there is also a ninety-day archive of tales written by readers like you. To submit your own tale, follow the Submit Tale link (look in the left hand margin), but be sure to read the Tips for Writing a Wacky Tale first. It includes help with parts of speech, as well as useful tips such as "Try not put to the word 'a' before a blank that you want the reader to fill in with a singular noun because someone might enter a noun that begins with a vowel."

FUN LEARNING
Pirates "Ahoy! Have ye heard the secret of this ramshackle inn where ye'r lodgin'? They say it's full of booty but nobody's been able to find it." Join this interactive adventure (customized with your very own pirate name), and while looking for the loot, you'll unearth tales of real pirates. When your adventure is finished, click on Books for Buccaneers (from the main menu) for elementary and young adult reading lists.
Surfing the Net with Kids Barbara J. Feldman, a former computer consultant and programmer, put together this website to make searching for educational less time consuming and more fun. She also writes a syndicated column "Surfing the Net with Kids" in newspapers nationally.
ZOOM ZOOM is produced by WGBH for PBS. and is powered by the 570,485 kids who sent in stuff so far. It is a fun site that is also educational. There is lots of material for parents as well.

GEOGRAPHY
Funschool Geography Games Nestled among dozens of educational Java games for third to sixth graders are four geography games. On this page, you'll find Capital Field Trip, Flag Flags and Where in the World? U.S. State Detective ("Where is Illinois? No, that's Wisconsin.") is a click away on page four. Young children can play these games to learn the capitals, flags, countries and states. Older children can play timed games, racing against the clock to identify all the components of each game.
Geography Place Start your geography lesson by choosing a region of the world, and studying the interactive maps which name each country as your mouse passes over it. When you're ready for the games,each region has three to choose from: Find Game ("Where is Finland?"), Quiz Game ("This country is famous for its clocks.") or Word Game (a hangman-like word guessing game). My favorite click? Quiz Game, but remember you must choose a region before you'll see the game choices.
Mapit Zapit The Mapit Zapit Game has thirteen different maps: one map shows the United States, and the twelve others show different parts of the world. For each map, the game works the same way. The object of the game is to earn points by clicking a state or country name in its correct geographic bed on the map." This fast-moving Java game from ePlay can be played at four levels of difficulty, keeps track of your best scores and is my pick of the day!
National Geographics Get interactive features, maps, photography, news, kids stuff, educators materials, forums, etc... There is something for everyone. Definitely a site to have bookmarked.
Where is That? "The game where your mind is your map." Choose from seven maps and five levels of difficulty. Level one starts with multiple choice questions ("Is this France, Russia or Germany?") Level five means spelling the country or state AND its capital city. But wait there's more! Hats off to Funbrain for including a two-player version, where each player can choose his own level of difficulty. And this marvelous game is Java-free, so it's compatible with older browsers and WebTV.

Barry's Clipart This site contains many nice images. But the best part of it is the large collection of moving GIF's that you can use for creating your own web sites.
Clipart.com This is a very large collection of liks to other sites that offer all kinds of graphics, and graphics related information that might be very useful to you.
Clipart Connection The Clip Art Connection is an Award Winning, massive FREE resource for all types of clip art and digital imagery. Thousands of local images plus hundreds of clipart related links. One of the largest single clip-art resources on the web since 1995!
GIF Animation on the WWW Learn how to make your own moving GIF's. This web site shows you how to do it.
Icon Bazaar This site offers thousands of graphics arranged by category. These range from alphabets to backgrounds to bullets, etc.

Discover Engineering This is an excellent site that is recommended for grades 6-9 that explains all about engineering, as well as has many fun and interesting ideas that enable the students to get involved with engineering and science. There is a "links" hyperlink that takes you to a vast list of web sites that include all the different sciences (chemistry, biology, environmental, etc…)
Chem-4-Kids A beginner's look into the states of matter, atoms, reactions, and other elements of chemistry.
WebElements Online periodic table extensively linked to essential data, adjacent elements, and chemical and physical data as well as background, crystallographic, nuclear, electronic, biological and geological information.
Mission Polar Lander The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has initiated a long-term systematic program of Mars exploration, the Mars Surveyor Program (MSP). The highest priority scientific objectives of this program are to: Search for evidence of past or present life, Understand the climate and volatile history of Mars, and Assess the nature and inventory of resources on Mars. -- The common thread of these objectives is water: past and present sources and sinks; exchanges between subsurface, surface and atmospheric reservoirs; and the change of volatiles over time.
Missions to Mars Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS) has on display many pictures of the different missions to mars and much other information.
Science Matters This site is great for classroom learning. It has movie clips of the Rover and future plans by NASA to explore Mars. The Marvin clip is a riot!

The Heart: An Online Exploration This site was developed by The Franklin Institute Science Museum. It can be explored in one of two ways. A complete tour begins at the bottom of the first page, starting with a table of contents for the entire collection. Alternatively, you can enter the various activities organized into Do, See, Learn, Go and Hear. However you go, you will learn about the anatomy and function of the heart, and it's role in popular culture.
Secrets@Sea Teachers and students are invited to log on to the worldÌs first online ocean adventure learning game. Easy to set-up in the classroom and quick to download, Secrets @ Sea is deep with educational content! Ace on the Case: Secrets @ Sea is a curriculum-based adventure story for grade 4-7 students on the World Wide Web. This engaging website game complements ocean-theme units of study in the classroom and enhances studentsÌ learning experiences using the Internet. Students play the starring role of "Ace", assistant investigator to Paula Pacific, who is assigned to examine unusual behaviors noticed in killer whale populations in the Alanamorris Strait. As Ace progresses through the story, s/he must successfully complete a number of ocean-related learning activities. The knowledge gained from completing these activities leads the student to the solution of the case.

Karin's ESL PartyLand The student pages have over 75 interactive quizzes, 15 discussion forums, interactive lessons on a variety of topics, a chat room, and lots of great links. On the teacher side, there are many lesson plans and reproducible materials to use in class, discussion forums, ideas for communicative practice activities, a chat room, a job board, links, and more.

Journal of Technology Education Look through the Digital Library archives to find professional articles relating to technology in education. You may read the articles by volume, or make a search for a specific topic.
The Lesson Plans Page The Lesson Plans Page is a collection of over 450 lesson plans, primarily at the elementary level, that were developed by myself, students, and faculty at The University of Missouri, and more recently, lesson plans that were submitted by the users of this web site. This site was developed to assist educators of all types. Elementary school teachers get lesson plans that are ready to use in their classrooms. College students get great example lesson plans or ideas to base their own lesson plans on. Home schoolers can get lesson plans to use at home and parents can get ideas for educational activities to use with their children.
LSU WebQuests Here there is a large selection of WebQuests available. These have all been created by students at LSU.
The New York Times Learning Network Beehive Here is your opportunity to ask other teachers and educational professionals any question you might have. Usually you get a response promptly, and many of the answers are very valuable. Also, if you sign up, you can also chose to answer some of the questions others are asking as well.
Schools Online Schools Online offers diverse K-12 science activities. Features include Squirmin' Herman the Worm in his underground world and Detective LePlant who explores the mysteries of plant science. Teachers will find lesson plans and activities on incubation and embryology, and a variety of educational activities about apples that integrate social studies, science, math and writing.
S.C.O.R.E. This site gives curriculum ideas and lessons on math, social science, history and language arts. In addition it also adheres to the standards for each subject area. It is a very good site to bookmark!
Smithsonian Magazine's Kids' Castle Constructed to be a safe, educational, free and fun place for kids ages 8-16 on the World Wide Web. Kids' Castle features articles written about the things that interest kids today: sports, history, the arts, travel, science and air and space, all with great photos. There are message boards filled with questions to get kids from all over the world talking to each other and thinking creatively. And, of course, Kids' Castle has lots of fun and challenging games and contests.

Presidents of the United States In this resource you will find background information, election results, cabinet members, notable events, and some points of interest on each of the presidents. Links to biographies, historical documents, audio and video files, and other presidential sites are also included to enrich this site.
Government/Politics This is a comprehensive site that addresses issues of our government from the birth of this country until the present. It is a very good source for information and research.
Stately Knowledge These web pages will help you find out the basic facts of any state in the Union, including Washington, D.C. Need to know the capital of Alabama? Want to know which hockey teams are in California? How about the size of Montana? All that information is here -- and more!
